The Albatros Garden is a nice hotel with a beautiful pool and plenty of dining options.
Pros: The breakfast buffet is quite large and fantastic - tons of different types of food available to eat. I still think of the amazing olives and grilled eggplant they had as part of the buffet. The food was great. The main lobby is gorgeous. It is very eye catching and beautiful with plenty of Moroccan tile & chandeliers. Off the main lobby there is the Casablanca bar which is also very cool. It looks very upscale with a hip vibe (not stuffy). Over all the hotel is really quite nice and is a great place to hang out for a couple days in the warm Moroccan sun if you are on a budget.
The staff is nice but expect long waits at the front desk. It took us over an hour to check in which was pretty annoying. Everyone is very polite but at the time we were there the entire front desk seemed really disorganized which led to the delays.
The room was clean and well kept but not 5 star standard, not even close. This hotel/resort is really more of an excellent budget getaway, not a luxury 5 star. The linens were very clean & the beds were comfortable and the robe & slippers were a nice touch. The issues with the room was that there there was no lock on the balcony sliding door (we were several floors up so it wasn't an issue but we did find this very strange), the safe didn't work and the bathroom could've been cleaner. There were some superficial issues with a bit of moulding missing and only one set of robe & slippers (even though there were 2 of us). We asked for an additional set during our stay but never received it.
The pool was beautiful and in great shape but i did notice that the pool chairs were a bit dated. They were fine to sit on but could've use a really good cleaning. In my eyes this is just another detail that makes them more of a budget getaway rather than the 5 star they claim to be.
We did not use the spa or gym but both looked very clean & nice and the staff in those areas were quite friendly as well. If I had more money at the time it would've been a nice treat to visit the spa.
The location of the hotel is also great. It is outside the main Medina walls and surrounded by other resorts. There is a taxi service that will pick you up right at the main door and bring you right into the Djemaa el-Fna Market or anywhere else you want to go. It is an easy 10 minute drive to the heart of the medina.
If you are going away with a group of friends or your family this is a great option for an inexpensive getaway. If you are looking for a more luxurious, romantic getaway then you'll probably want to look elsewhere.
