Grown-up beach bungalows
There's something romantic about staying in beach bungalows in Thailand. but this usually means a hard bed, lots of mosquitoes, and grotty bathrooms. Not at Long Beach Chalets.
Though they look simple, inside they're as comfortable as any hotel room with soft bed, cable TV, and coffee/tea maker. There are 2 kinds of bungalows - Standard and Deluxe - and I stayed in the Standard Bungalow for 3 nights during the low season. In the standard bungalows the bathroom is actually separate from the bedroom (still a private bathroom), but this actually works out really well as the bathroom is huge and you can hang wet swimsuits, towels, and other things you don't want in the bedroom anyway. Underneath each bungalow is a shady seating area with a hammock that's perfect for taking a nap.
There's a path from Long Beach Chalets to the beach and it's about a 3 minute walk away. During the low season the beach isn't at it's best and there was some trash washed up on the sand, but we were often the only people on the beach. If the waves are too big for swimming, there's also a small swimming pool.
I paid 1,000 THB per night during the low season and this included a continental breakfast and WiFi that reached the bungalow. It was a great value and I wish I had spent a week here!
