Cozy place with lots of heritage
If you've come to Melaka to soak up its Peranakan style and food, then the Baba House is the perfect place to stay. It's located in a rambling heritage building across from a Chinese temple and a few minutes walk from Jonker Street.
I stayed 1 night in a standard king room. The architecture of the room is such that most rooms lack windows, but it didn't feel dark or gloomy. The room had a nice wooden wardrobe and table, but a tiny old TV. The bathroom is tiny but clean, and the sink is in the bedroom area. There are some nice antique touches like a Pernakan tiled sink and porcelain doorknobs. The building is quite charming, with little sitting areas filled with antiques and plants.
There's also a simple on-site spa for a foot massage and a gift shop.
I booked through Agoda and got a bargain rate of 80 RM for a weeknight. It was a great deal!
